Motorcycle trailers… for work and play
2/26/2011 6:22:51 PM
Bandicoot trailers are now being used commercially, as well as the more obvious uses for motorcycle touring and leisure. Business uses have ranged from a mobile bike mechanic repair service to a fitness instructor carting exercise equipment between venues, and even a dairy farmer taking goats’ cheese to market. Because the “Coots” are made of aluminium and have flat sides, they lend themselves to customisation via bolt-on accessories or attaching advertising signage and stickers, making them adaptable for a variety of uses.
One keen motorcyclist, who was tired of her business supplies always taking up space in the car, was amazed to see the Bandicoot trailer could swallow up all she needed to carry. This opened up the possibility to use her motorcycle for day-to-day business – a much better way to get about town! She relishes the freed-up car space and the ability to pack supplies away in the trailer and simply hitch it up to her bike when she’s on the road.
Traditionally, it’s for leisure uses where motorcycle trailers earn their keep. Even in these tougher economic conditions, motorcyclists don’t have to spend a fortune to have a good time. For the price of one good package holiday, bikers can buy a Bandicoot motorcycle trailer that will open the door to countless camping holidays, adventure rides or weekends away. This gives the freedom of the open road together with the convenience of having all your gear with you (a fair bit more than a change of underwear anyway!).
A Bandicoot Trailers customer who returned from a tour of Tassie said: “The trailer has really allowed us to travel in comfort. We travelled with another couple who were trying to survive out of saddle bags and a soft pack. Needless to say, after a week or so we could have charged any amount of rent we wished for some space in the trailer!” (see more

Proudly built in Australia, the “Coot” comes ready to hitch up and go, with Esky tray, dual tie-down roof rails, floor carpet and LED lighting as standard. The easy-open lid is supported on gas struts and has lockable cam-lock catches for security. The Bandicoot is a lightweight and robustly constructed trailer designed with practicality in mind. The aluminium panels are formed using computer-controlled equipment for accurate and efficient construction, and a tough powder-coat finish provides a choice of colours. Key components are detachable for simple replacement if necessary down the track, and the wheels bolt onto easily maintainable Holden hubs.
Trailers are made to order, and a
regular motorcycle trailer costs $2650.
Options include a mounted spare wheel, Pearl finish, flag holder and triple bars on the top rack. Bandicoot Trailers can also supply
bike tow bars. Customers can view a demo trailer at the Brisbane office, via an agent in Melbourne, or sometimes even via the network of proud Coot owners throughout Australia.(see
